I can very well relate to your desperation and anger, but please don't react emotionally. The legal or technical fact remains that no-one guranteed us GC and truth of the matter is most of us said "No" when immigration officer asked " do you have plans to settle in State?" So their is no question of equitable treatment.

Most people from visa free countries come here work here visa free and go back. They never even get asked a question. How come we get fingerprinted, photographed twice, interrogated twice and yet targeted when it comes to GC?
I am not against capitalism but I am against fighting injustice such as you dont get GC because you were born in India. And yes change will come but if we dont do anything we get nothing.

When the cases gets shuffled around the country from NSC to CSC and back, the dtabases are separate. FP notices are generated when information on different databases are alligned together.

I did try to talk to customer care but it was of no help.
They tell me to wait for 30 days and sometime 60-90days.
They say you will become actual permanent resident when you get the card The card is important.
You now USCIS don�t know when they will change their minds.
To better be on safe side to get it stamped on my passport. I took info pass on 8-11-08 it will be almost 30 days,

As replied by Desi3933, it is incorrect to my knowledge. Approval notice it self is a proof that you are a Permanent Resident. The stamp in the passport works for us till we get the physical card. I think you will get it on 9/11/08 9Infopass appointment date).

I came to us on H4 in 2007 and the got my H1B in 2008. I am not getting a job on H1 yet so i want to know that till when the H1B be valid as I am not genarating any salery and my consultant is not running my pay roll ?

While your story is interesting, but I beg to differ again, because, immigration is not something which would be discussed in the Congress for the first time, if we are successfull in bringing something. Each and every single lawmaker in this country understand immigration to the extent that you may not even start to guess...People who oppose us have been putting their restrictive bills again and again so they are going to continue doing that despite of us do something or sleep, do you think Numbersusa wait for us to do something, their anti.... mill will keep churning.
Sometimes you have to see the other perspective rather than just defending a point of view.
Now is not a good time for immigrants. The EB5 investor visa, which is a no brainer in this economy has been kicked on like a can for 6 mths at a time, congressmen that are pro- immigration are laying low. Anti-immigrant forces are gearing up for a big assault in coming weeks, the American public is unsympathetic given their own issues. Against this backdrop why would we launch such an effort. Basically now is the time to play Defense not Offense. Do all you can to hang on to your job, keep your savings liquid. Wait for any opportunities to arise, and wait for the storm to pass.
After the great depression, this country virtually shut down immigration for the next few decades. Likewise they slowed it down in the early 80s and again in the early 90s. Right about now, no change is a good thing IMHO, as bad as that sounds, as change will not be in your favor.

I personally think GC quota has a rationale behind it. It allows for a reasonable share to go to smaller countries so that the US population maintains its diversity. Besides, near the end of the year, if the numbers are unused, they are rolled over to larger countries like India and China, thereby automatically eliminating the quota.
If the original intend was to promote diversity (whether it is in FB or EB immigration), quota should be based on ethnicity of US population ( GC holders and citizens ). Ceiling should be applicable to countries those have a high percentage of representation in US population. Does India or China constitute a majority in US population ? No way. Indians and Chinese are a minority in US population.
The concept of "diversity" by country is a racially motivated law. It does not promote diversity. In fact it limits diversity.

This is a good idea - actually we could send flowers for cheap rates if we order it in bulk. Let me know who's in for this. We can open up a paypal account or use one of our own paypal account and start collecting funds and use it to send the flowers to the USCIS dept.

By the way - since I am in NOVA/DC, I can initiate some media coverage even if we can get some substantial number of people sending flowers.
Can anyone familiar with using paypal accounts come forward? I personally have never used them (except to donate to IV) so I would not be a good choice. That person will have to publish the nicknames (people can use whatever names they want if that is possible!) and the amount paid by each person at the end of the day.
This will help our cause... I believe more people will come forward if we do this. Of course others still have the choice of doing this individually as well!

Hi,
Yesterday I got the response for my SR opened on 10/16 for still not receiving FP notice yet. The letter says that the processing on my case has been delayed since the background check on my application is still open. Please contact after 6 months if you still haven't heard back from us. My assumptions are:
1. Since they did not mention any where in the letter about biometrics, they are talking about my 485 petition and not my finger printing notice. Guess they misunderstood why I opened the SR with them. Does that make sense?
2.Is it possible that I haven't received FP notice since my background check is still in progress? I thought that these were two independent process...
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I got the SR response letter saying I contacted them and they are responding by saying that I should wait for the FP if I have not received one yet. So basically I am where I was 2 months ago.
If you read my earlier posts, I did have doubts that FP and NC may have some connection together.
But I think this seems more of a glitch in the TSC system in generation of FP. I mean either its NC or glitch that is causing this delay. Anyway, the NSC at least generates one for you after you speak to an IO. We are unfortunate in that also.

I think you need to do a reality check on your leadership and mobilizing skills. The reason you cant find even 10 people who support your ideas should tell you something. You have to convince people who oppose your ideas in a logical way, so they see some sense in what you are trying to achieve. If you cannot convince people who oppose you with logical answers you wont find much support as a community from IV. I think people like eb3_nepa have every right to question your actions and intentions and if you cannot respond to healthy dialogue, dont expect people to support your cause. You have to give respect to gain respect.
I personally support your cause about FIFO processing but you need to broaden it beyond EB2 to the entire EB community. It seems to me you have managed to gain such a notorious reputation that people are opposed to anything you have to say :) Its like a HR hiring manager saying to you, you are brilliant but you dont have the right attitude, so we dont need you.

If we see the history H1B and GC numbers were never increased except 2004 20k inpast 15 years In 2000 it was increasd temporarlily for 4 years.Also EB numbers were never increased except temporary reliefs.If it is increased by Skill bill in current form that is really an acheivement. If there is a possiblity they may increase H1B because that is temorary visa(But in reallity not) and GC numbers may remain same. But if increased to 115k then also cap will be reached in another 1 month because there are more number of Desi companies than number of H1Bs. Thats why they are asking exemptions for MS people and 20% adjustment for every year. We have to wait and see whether congress fall on this trap to do this without analysing the impact.
