Hi,
I am a Jul 23rd I-485 filer. Just called USCIS second time (first time no success), went thru their menu and was lucky to get a great Cust Service Rep.
She asked me the I-485 receipt #s, address, primary contact #, DOB, and Zip Code for self and spouse.
She generated a SR for us together and gave us a Conf # for FP notice. She said that you should receive a FP appt notice in next 30 days.
So I guess, perseverance does pay off :)
Hopefully we can get this FP out of the way soon enough.
FYI I am a Bay Area resident.
I am not sure if opening SR helps, especially for TSC. I opened SR 30 days ago and still waiting. They have not scheduled me yet for an appointment.

Quick question...how can we check LUD wihtout receipt notices...is there any way? please suggest.
Did you noticed any LUD before check cashing as you got receipt from california. I filed on July 20 and no news yet.

The fact is that the biggest immediate issue facing the majority of people is Not a green card, it is that they cannot even file for it. Wasn't retrogression the whole reason why people joined IV? GC processing was always slow, and that was a big problem. But it only got to be a critical problem when people realized they could not change jobs and their spouses could not work due to the retrogression.
Let us focus on the low hanging fruits first.

a) Filing for stage 3 regardless of PD
b) Relief for people in the LC mess
c) Fingerprinting one person just Once (i mean fingerprints dont change do they?)
... does it make sense to go for a Comprehensive Permanent solution or does it make sense to ask for smaller tid-bits and treat the other costs we incur as "costs of doing business"? ... Let us seriously think about this solution.

nobody has talked about a rally in LA... maybe infront of the Federal building in Westwood... I can initiate if I have couple of more volunteers to help me. If we have this rally on July 28, we will have ample time to arrange for people, etc...

The Intent & Implicatins could easilty be challenged....I need not have to write how intent could be challenged, as fa as implications are concerned, country cap has given grief to certain section, while they are still living in the country...
Do we have any reference to say it is unconstitutional ? If EB country cap is unconstitutional, FB cap would be unconstitutional too.
IMO this entire country cap rule has racist intent. If the caps were to promote diversity, the cap should be based on ethnicity of US population (ctizens and GC holders). Are Indians and Chinese a a mjority in this country ? No.

Just wanted to let u know that when I called NSC IO today, she was kind enough to give my 485 Recpt # and asked me to wait a couple of weeks to get them in mail. She told me they(both my wife and mine) were just entered into the system.
Also I asked her abt my wife's pkg, she said it also got cashed, but my wife has to call to get her Recpt#.
frontlog refers to the folks who have filed between July2nd -July 16th.

If i say i'm joining Masters Program then also they wont give the Letter
- they dont want to lose the FAT billing rate out of me.
I suggest that you should request him and convince him that you are not going to quit and make up some story like your spouse wants EAD to work and you are joining masters program etc.

There are friends in India who are not even considering to come to the US since they are very happy with their jobs in India after their post-graduate degrees (including a few folks from IIMs).
If memory serves me right, I read in one of my company's presentations that 40,000 Indians have relocated to Bangalore in the last 10 years. I know of at least 12 folks who went back and are living happily there.
I realize that the number of folks coming to the US on several visas (B, F, H, J, L etc.) is much higher than 40,000, but a decade ago, when I came to this country, people wouldn't even think about relocating - so, things are changing.
Relocating is obviously a personal choice based on several personal factors. I consider myself lucky in that like many of you at least I have an option to go back to a country with a strong economy, if GC doesn't work out in a timely fashion.

Personally, I think I'm beginning to see the shift in attitudes of young Indians now visiting the U.S. - of course, many will be tempted to stay in due course, and most of us here do truly appreciate what this country has to offer.
The point I'm trying to make is the comparative state of the nations (both India and the United States), their respective economies, consumer confidence and hopes of their people, is in fact changing mindsets.
There's no denying that this major shift is well on its way. It's no co-incidence that every single Indian I talked to in the last 2 weeks (temporarily here for education/work/whatever... ) immediately ruled out the idea of making the U.S. their home long-term, or even in the medium/short-term.
In stark contrast, though, the H1B visas do get used up within hours of the visa lottery being opened... but I wouldn't assume all of those wanting to work here for some time on a H1B visa will want to stay back.
Again, I don't have statistics to back up the theory - just anecdotal evidence, with a sampling far too small and based on my own personal experience and conversations...

For all those waiting for approval, its does help to find out if a visa number has been requested for your application. My understanding is that all the applications which are ready for adjudication are moved to a separate area and visa number is requested for those.Infact if you can find out (I think the guys at Infopass only have access to that information. Not sure if the level 2 service does) it helps. If a visa number has been assigned or requested for your application it will get approved.
I am not sure if assigned to an officer or with an officer status has any material value when it comes to approval unless a visa number has been requested.

In reviewing the electronic records, it does appear that the contractor has placed these cases in a location where they will be pulled and sent to an officer. We are unable to request the files be moved to an Adjudications Officer because our Records Division is running an electronic sweep to pull the files with available visas. Files will be pulled through this sweep and sent to an Officer. We are generally processing about 4000 employment-based cases a month and the cases with available visas are being pulled through these sweeps.

What I posted was a plea to introspect (more so as the first anniversary of the D.C. rally approaches) - it was in no way dismissive of your efforts, or an effort to ridicule or demean your thread or its spirit.
Not sure why you felt the need to be rude - being firm and clear about your goals is a sign of leadership, and being blunt may get you some more brownie points. However, brash/rude behavior is not a substitute for that clarity and firmness, imho - particularly with those who may be working towards the same goals as you are (albeit coming at it from a different angle).
