What drives the decision for a bill to be considered in Congress/Senate? WHY can't we pitch SKIL or TALENT Bills as a means to separate legal immigration from the ongoing CIR debate?
If politicians are introducing these bills, they should be willing to back them up separtely instead of saying that these come into picture only if CIR fails. Or is the introduction of other bills a sign of CIR's imminent failure? Since the top IV team has the visibility with politicians, this hypocrisy should be resolvable. Please tell us why these bills cannot be taken up while CIR is pending? Isn't that what the lobbying company is supposed to help us with?
No one is prepared to jeopardize their political careers over 12 million illegal immigrants. Thought I have said in my earlier posts that we cannot alienate ourselves from the illegal issue I think we need to take the next step and start to contact the senators who have introduced and backed the SKIL, PACE and TALENT act to see if this can be pushed through senate and congress as seperate bills.
Is the core team looking in to this? There is no short cut to get relief. Each one of us needs to spend time, money and effort on a continuous basis for a long term, if we want something to happen. Nothing happens overnight. If your opposition is tough, economy is bad, you have to make more efforts to get things done. Many just come once in a while on IV forums when visa dates are bad, blame IV for doing nothing, give ideas and go away. We have seen it oft repeated after every visa bulletin. Those people who complain have never even tried to become a volunteer and tried doing anything. That needs to stop. If people genuinely want something to happen, each person needs to get active. We have stopped posting much on the open forum for these reasons. Very few show real commitment and sincerity. $25 is the least you can do to show that you are committed to the purpose of this relief and appreciate the hard work of the organization. We are always welcoming anyone who wishes to volunteer and can help implement their ideas. So if you have ideas and can commit your time, skills and energy for it on a continuous basis contact us.

Sreeanne is correct. We had one friend who died in 9-11 and his wife and kid got visa to stay back for few years until she finished her paperwork. Plan for 2-3 options for your family, and just dont depend on continuing GC.

everyone here is in favor of supporting BILLS and what not for recapturing VISA's and stuff.. but I believe Prevention is better than cure... why do we have to support or introduce these BILLS in the first place.. if USCIS had worked effeciently all these years ? I think instead of introducing BILLS after 5 years to recapture VISAa why cant we do something to make USCIS efficeint right now ??

Could you please show us, where in the link you provided, H-1B applicant needs to treated equally for job hiring as compared to GC and EAD workers.
EOE deals with equality (i.e. equal opportunities) for hiring, job promotion, and firing.
IRC Act 1985 deals with unlawful employment of aliens, unfair immigration-related employment practices, and fraud & misuse of certain immigration-related documents.
Two different things.
However, once H-1B applicant is hired, he/she is protected just like any other worker, for job promotions, training, and other work conditions. But employer is under no obligation to extend H-1B beyond any initial H-1B petition date. And, yes, H-1B can also be fired at will*, just like any other worker.

I applied for my EAD and AP renewal on the second week of May 2008. Again, I am not sure if EAD or AP renewal triggered the FP notice. Good luck to you.

Let us focus on CIR and its aftermath. I understand everyone is frustrated because of the standstill on legal high skilled immigration reform. However, that does not excuse speculation on America's demographics 10 years from now, and gross pejorative generalizations about ethnic groups and nationalities. As Mpkmaster pointed out, no culture is free from deficiencies. I have never been to Mexico but I am sure corruption there can't be worse than corruption in India.
Mpkmaster, there is a specific method to report offensive posts. Please follow it the next time round, as there is no guarantee that grossly offensive posts will be read by the moderators. Thanks for speaking up.
And in response to Jaime, please do not let a few bad posts detract from the rest of the forums. There is a reason that people are frustrated. There is no progress on CIR and our cause is really a political football. We are not powerful enough or large enough in numbers yet for politicians to sit up and take notice of us.

that Senior Members would be more involved in posting on this website. It makes a lot of difference if core members who have a closer perspective of the truth could respond to some questions on these threads. No response, in my opinion only helps in making the website dead and promotes unproductive arguments and squabbles here.
It is "good" that they are not talking. That means they are working harder and something good is expected to happen.
If there is more talk then outcome is less. This is my experience from past one plus year from IV and other immigration forums. When everyone get "too much" excited and keep posting madly about some "immature deal", at the end of the day nothing "concrete" is achived.
Let IV do their work. I am hopeful something "good" will happen in near future.

My checks got cleared at TSC today.
Previously
My 140 was approved at TSC, sent 485 to Nebraska on June 22, they received on June 25. I called to check status yesterday, the lady said to wait. On asking if case will be transferred to TSC and if TSC will generate receipts, she said she doesn't know, but it may take at least 2-3 weeks to process receipts at Nebraska.

I searched immigrationportal.com and only found few than three cases in the last three months about H1B denial. The number does not seem to be unusually high to me.
